How to choose the surface treatment method: electric galvanized and hot dipped galvanized

Hot dipped galvanized is to immerse the derusted steel parts in a molten zinc solution at about 500°C to cover the surface of the steel parts with a zinc layer to achieve the purpose of corrosion protection. It is an effective metal anti-corrosion method, mainly used in metal structure facilities in various industries.

Hot-dipped galvanized is developed from the older hot-dip method. Since 1836, the French hot-dip galvanizing industry has a history of more than 180 years. The eletric galvanized process is used to protect metals from corrosion. For this purpose, zinc filler coatings are used, which are coated on the protected surface by any coating method. After drying, a zinc filler coating is formed. In the dry coating With content of zinc (up to 95%)

Hot dipped galvanized and eletric galvanized are very different in process and appearance

The difference in process :

hot dipped galvanized is to immerse the workpiece in the molten zinc solution for a certain period of time after degreasing, pickling, dipping and drying. Just put it forward. Eletric galvanized is also called cold galvanized. It uses electrolys is equipment to put the workpiece in a solution of zinc salt after degreasing and pickling, and connect it to the negative electrode of the electrolysis device; place a zinc plate on the opposite side of the workpiece and connect it to the electrolysis device The positive pole, turn on the power, use the directional movement of the current from the positive pole to the negative pole, and a layer of zinc will be deposited on the workpiece.

The difference in appearance:

The eletric galvanized surface is relatively smooth and bright, and the electroplated layer using the color passivation process is also yellow-green as the main color, which is colorful. The electroplating layer using the white passivation process is bluish white or white with green light, and the electroplating layer of the white passivation process is slightly colorful when it is at a certain angle with the sunlight. The corners of complex workpieces are prone to “electric burning” and become grayish, where the zinc layer is thicker. The current dead angle is easy to form in the negative corner, resulting in an undercurrent gray area, where the zinc layer is thinner. There is no zinc tumor or agglomeration on the whole work piece. The appearance of hot dipped galvanized is slightly rougher than that of eletric galvanized, and it is silver-white. The appearance is prone to process water lines and a few drippings, especially at one end of the workpiece.

The difference between galvanized products:

Hot-dipped galvanized is not as delicate and bright as eletric galvanized, but the thickness of the zinc layer is thicker than eletric galvanized. The anti-corrosion performance is also better than eletric galvanized.

The difference between galvanized lifespan:

Hot-dipped galvanized is can be used for 15-20 years

Eletric galvanized is can be used for 10-15 years
